Life sure is good! Emma
gave this small pillow to
us when we moved into
our apartment in May 5,
2005. The girls frequently
“refill” it with hugs and
kisses.
In the late 90’s as I was approaching retirement, Helen and I would
spend a week or so in the winter visiting with her parents in St.
Petersburg, Florida. They had a small, cozy mobile home there. In the
earliest days of our visits we saw it as just that, a visit; “we’d never want
to live in Florida.” After my retirement in 1999, Helen’s folks had become
unable to travel to Florida any more for health reasons. So we had the
opportunity to stay in their “mobile” for a few weeks at a time. At the time,
we square danced a lot and we found a friendly place to dance in the St.
Pete area. We got to know the caller, Tom Perry, and his wife, Dawn and
we became good friends. Wintering over in Florida began to look more
attractive to us. We started to look around for a mobile home with more
space. Tom and Dawn invited us to check out their condominium home
in the Mainlands. Our first reaction was that a brick and mortar home
was way beyond our means. Well to make it brief, the real estate market
was favorable and in 2001 we ended up the owners of a home in the
middle of the Mainlands...and we love it. The St. Pete area offers plenty
to do to keep us busy and entertained. That is, if we take time off from
our busy life in our community. We often say at the end of the winter
season that we have to go back to New Hampshire to rest.
